The pour over method is an incredibly simple and inexpensive way to make an excellent cup of coffee.

As with any brewing method, you’ll have best results if you start with freshly roasted, whole bean coffee and filtered water.

1. Set up your dripper and pot (or cup). We like the Bee House Pot and Dripper Set.

2. Grind your coffee beans. We recommend using a burr grinder so your grounds are consistently sized. You should grind them a little finer than you would for drip coffee. Use 1 Tablespoon (7 grams) for every 4 ounces of water.

3. Heat your water to just under a boil. The best temperature for extracting coffee is 200 degrees, which is just a little less than boiling.

4. Pour hot water slowly over the coffee grounds in a stirring motion to fully saturate the grounds. Just pour enough to saturate the grounds and start pre-infusing. The Hario Buono V60 Kettle is great for this, since it has a long, thin spout that accurately directs the water.

After about 15 seconds, pour water over again in a spiraling motion to evenly saturate all the grounds and break up any clumps. Once your pot is full (usually after 2 minutes or so) remove the filter holder.

5. Enjoy. an awesome cup!
