Breville Conical Burr Grinder
We love this well designed, reliable, and easy to use Burr
grinder. One of the nicest features is the anti-static feature
built into the ground coffee catcher. Blurry-eyed mornings
before the coffee is ready are not the time to be fussing with
grinders that scatter coffee grinds all over your counter from
the static electricity. The ground coffee stays put in this
unit.
Did we mention this is a burr grinder? The trouble with the typical blade grinder is that it slices the coffee bean rather than grinding, and the result is inconsistent grind coarseness. You'll have almost Turkish coffee on the bottom and huge chunks resting on top. This is not a recipe for delicious coffee. Instead of slicing the bean, burr grinders force the bean to pass between a stationary plate and metal burrs that grind the bean evenly and slowly. The metal conical burr on the Breville is removable for cleaning.
CONSISTENT GROUNDS FOR BETTER EXTRACTION
The Breville grinder allows you to select a grind that suits your preferred method of brewing coffee. Choose from ultra-fine Turkish to coarse for a French press. The consistency of the grinds will ensure clean, even extraction (which is important to make sure you aren’t getting burnt or bitter flavors).
The grinder comes with a hopper that holds .5 pound of coffee beans. There is a variable timer that can be set from 10 to 30 seconds. The start button will grind coffee for the designated time each time you push it. This means that once you figure out how many seconds are required to produce the grounds you need for your coffee maker of choice, you will always get the same amount of coffee by simply pressing the start button. For our largest French press, the Frieling 33 ounce, we put the timer on 30 seconds to produce the perfect amount of coffee grounds. .
