Baratza Virtuoso Preciso Coffee Grinder | $270.00

Based on the popular Virtuoso, the Preciso adds extra precision and control. It retains the 40 grind adjustment steps, but a second micro adjustment lever further divides each of the 40 steps into 11 distinct settings. Smaller steps means more control over your espresso grind, enabling you to pull that perfect shot.

Baratza Vario Coffee Grinder | $404.00

Here's the short answer on why this grinder is worth $404: It has the serious quality of a professional level espresso grinder, with precision adjustment to achieve the perfect espresso shot, yet it can switch to your favorite French press or coffee maker setting without losing your micro espresso setting.

MACAP M4 Stepless Adjustment Espresso Grinder | $604.00

Its worm gear-driven stepless adjustment makes it one of the best stepless adjustable grinders on the market today. The worm gear makes it simple to make even a minute adjustment, and the best part is that you can do it with either hand.

Breville Smart Grinder | $180.00

The perfect coffee starts with a precise amount of freshly ground beans. The Breville Smart Grinder™ contains Dosing IQ™ which automatically calibrates each dose every time the grind settings are adjusted, giving you the perfect amount you need each and every time.

Mazzer Mini Espresso Grinder | $604.00

Don't be fooled – the “Mini” is a Giant in both legendary status and quality, one of the many in a line of Mazzer grinders upheld as the gold standard in the specialty coffee industry.

Mazzer Mini Doserless Espresso Grinder | $879.00

The Mazzer Mini Electronic Doserless grinder is one of our favorite espresso grinders for its accurate grind, intuitive electronic dosing controls, and control of static (the grinds just drop right into your portafilter without spreading over your countertop!).

Compak K8 Fresh Espresso Grinder | $1400.00

The new Compak K8 Fresh Espresso Grinder is an innovative grinder that combines precision and advanced technology. The K8 Fresh features 3 modes of operation for consistent dosing: manual, automatic, and two pre-programmed shot times. Its powerful 1/2 horsepower motor has a gear reduction system to keep the coffee form overheating, and it's stepless adjustment allows you to totally fine-tune your grind.

Compak K10 Fresh Espresso Grinder | $1920.00

The new Compak K10 Fresh Espresso Grinder is an innovative grinder that combines precision and advanced technology. The K10 fresh walks the line of providing maximum quality for the most demanding customer.

Custom Engraving:

We can custom engrave your wood panels with pretty much any logo, initials, or image. The process uses lasers to burn the digital image directly on the wood, leaving a slightly textured black engraving. We've produced custom engraving for Rapha and Path.com, among others. The fee is $195 for most images that are under 5" tall by 10" wide.

Here is the process:

1. We will need an EPS or vector image file to do the engraving. After placing your order, you can email these files to sales@clivecoffee.com with a general description of size and where you'd like the image to appear on the panels.

2. We will email you back a mockup showing placement. You can approve or request changes to size and/or placement. We will do up to two rounds of revisions.

3. If you want additional design help, such as modifying a logo, changing fonts and so on, we can provide this for $50/hour, with a minimum of 1/2 half.

For details or to discuss your engraving ideas, call us at 800.520.2890.

La Marzocco GS/3

The La Marzocco GS/3 dramatically resets the gold standard for performance among all espresso machines. Its performance meets and surpasses the finest high volume machines on the market today. In surprisingly small footprint, with water reservoir or plumb-in options, the GS3 suits high-end home use and has sufficient steam power and performance for many commercial applications including restaurants, catering, and professional offices.

The automatic version of the GS/3 uses programmable buttons to control the flow and water and pressure through the grouphead via an internal valve. Pre-infusion allows you to bring out different flavor components which affect the balance and body of the shot, and produce a rounder, softer espresso that highlights brightness, sweetness and delicate notes.

Double Boiler:

Double boiler espresso machines have one boiler each for steam and espresso. You can steam and pull shots simultaneously. Additionally, the steam boiler has a dedicated power switch, which gives the user the option to provide power only to the group head boiler if milk steaming won’t be necessary. Double boilers typically control the temperature digitally for the most consistent temperature. If you want the best, consider a double boiler.

Visit our Espresso Machine Buyers Guide for more information on boiler types.

PID Temperature Control:

A PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) controller closely monitors and electronically regulates the water temperature at the brew group. A PID sends short bursts of power to your boiler, keeping the temperature within a very narrow range. With a machine like the Izzo Duetto, you can control the temperature to within 1 degree of accuracy. Heat exchangers cannot be used with a PID, and instead rely on a mechanical pressurestat to regulate temperature. Single boilers can have PID control, and are an upgrade option on machines like the Quick Mill Alexia.

PIDs are not required for a good espresso shot, but they do allow you to precisely dial in your brew temperature. This is especially important for single origin espressos and straight shot enthusiasts.

Automatic Brew Group:

With the automatic brew group, the user has indirect control over the profiling of each shot extraction. Pre-infusion and shot volumes must be programmed.

NSF Certified:

No other independent testing programs require companies to comply with the strict standards imposed by NSF and its product certification programs. From extensive product testing and material analyses to unannounced plant inspections, NSF is the only third-party testing organization to undertake a complete evaluation of every aspect of a product's development before it can earn a certification.

A Product that is certified or listed means that NSF:

  • (1)
  • Reviewed the Product, most often through a sampling of the Product and its components, materials, and compounds.
  • (2)
  • Determined at the time of the review that the Product complies with the relevant NSF consensus standard and/or protocol ("Standard"); and
  • (3)
  • Conducted or will conduct periodic audits to review whether the Product continues to comply with the Standard.

ETL Listed:

A product bearing the ETL Listed Mark is determined to have met the requirements of prescribed product safety standards. Moreover, the mark indicates that the manufacturer's production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to periodic follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance.

  • PID Temperature Control

  • A closed loop temperature controler gives the user remakable control over espresso extraction and steam.
  • Double Boiler

  • When paired with a PID, isolated boilers provide superior temperature precision and predictability.
  • Automatic Brew Group

  • Volumetric espresso extraction that allows programmable control over shot profiling.
GS/3 Panels

Custom Wood Panels

Make the GS/3 your own with our custom wood panels. We worked with a Portland craftsman to produce custom, hand-made wood side panels for the GS/3. The contour and lines of the panels precisely follow the stock side panels. We've chosen a beautiful domestic wood, Oregon black walnut, and two exotic woods, Bubinga and Wenge as standard options for the wood panels, but we can work with you to use material of your choice. Custom engraving is also available.

The wood panels are made from 2" to 3" thick panels of wood that are carefully selected for the most attractive grain. The wood is finished with multiple coats of Tung oil, and you may specify a gloss or matte finish. To protect the wood panels, the inside is lined with fiberglass insulation.

  • PROS:

    • Dual boiler:
    • Dedicated boilers for steam and espresso mean that recovery time is rapid and temperature stability is excellent.
    • Saturated Brew Group:
    • With a direct connection to the brew boiler, saturated groups can provide exceptional thermal stability.
    • Temperature control:
    • The PID temperature controler gives the user remakable control and precision over espresso extraction.
  • CONS:

    • Volumetric Extraction:
    • Unlike the paddle version, expresso extraction on the automatic is volumetric and must be programmed.
    • Pre-infusion:
    • To fully utilize this functionality, the machine must be plumbed.
    • Digital Programming:
    • Programming is not always intuitive. If you have a question, give us a call. We are more than happy to help.
